About this course

Medicine is the study and practice of diagnosing, treating and preventing disease and injury, and it is one of the most demanding and rewarding of all professional pathways. A gateway year programme is designed for students whose prior academic qualifications do not yet meet the standard entry requirements for direct entry to the main medical programme, providing a structured bridging year that builds the scientific knowledge, academic skills and clinical awareness needed to succeed. At Hull York Medical School, a partnership between the Universities of Hull and York, you will follow a six-year programme that begins with the gateway year before progressing into the full undergraduate medicine curriculum.
