Music production is the craft and art of creating recorded sound: shaping performances, designing sonic textures, constructing arrangements and mixing audio into finished recordings that communicate something to a listener. It draws on technical skills in recording, mixing and mastering alongside deep musical understanding, and it requires both precision and creativity. Contemporary music production sits at the intersection of music, technology and culture, and it increasingly crosses the boundaries between genres, disciplines and media, feeding into film, games, advertising, theatre and live performance as well as the recording industry.
