About this course

Children's nursing is a distinctive branch of the nursing profession that focuses on the care of infants, children, and young people from birth through adolescence. It recognises that children are not simply small adults: they have different physiological responses, different communication needs, different developmental stages, and different relationships with family and carers that must all be taken into account in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care. Children's nurses work across a wide range of settings, from neonatal units and children's wards to community health services, schools, and specialist children's centres.
