About this course

Psychology with forensic psychology applies the scientific study of the mind and behaviour to questions of crime, the legal system and the contexts in which psychological understanding most directly affects how society responds to harm. Forensic psychology draws on clinical, developmental, social and cognitive psychology to address questions including why people offend, how decisions are made under pressure, how victims respond to trauma, what factors in a person's history and circumstances are associated with reoffending risk, and what interventions actually work in reducing harm. At the University of Kent you will study for three years full-time, developing the core scientific competencies of psychology alongside a specialist focus on forensic applications.
