About this course

Social work is a profession dedicated to supporting people at some of the most difficult moments in their lives: when they are in poverty, in crisis, in danger, or when the conditions of their life make it hard to flourish. Social workers work with children and families, with older adults, with people with disabilities, with those experiencing mental health difficulties, and with many others, often in complex multi-agency contexts that require professional judgment, legal knowledge, and the ability to form trusted relationships under pressure. It is a demanding and deeply purposeful profession, and the degree that prepares you for it must take both the intellectual and the human dimensions of the role seriously.
