Songwriting is the craft of creating songs that connect with listeners, combining melodic invention, lyrical expression, and an understanding of musical structure to produce work that resonates emotionally and stands up to repeated listening. It is a discipline that requires both creative intuition and analytical understanding, asking writers to learn from the music that has come before and to develop their own distinctive voice in conversation with those traditions.
