About this course

Pharmaceutical science is the study of drugs: how they are discovered, designed, tested, manufactured, and ultimately used to treat or prevent disease. It draws on chemistry, biology, pharmacology, and the physical sciences to understand how therapeutic molecules interact with biological systems and how those interactions can be harnessed to produce safe and effective medicines. The pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are among the most knowledge-intensive and globally significant sectors in the economy, and the graduates they recruit need a strong interdisciplinary scientific foundation.
