Biomedical science is the laboratory-based discipline that underpins modern medicine and healthcare. It applies the knowledge and techniques of biology, chemistry and physics to the investigation of human health and disease, providing the scientific foundation for clinical diagnosis, therapeutic development and medical research. Biomedical scientists work in hospital laboratories and research settings, performing the analytical tests and investigations that clinicians depend on, and contributing to the development of new diagnostic tools, treatments and understanding of how disease works at the cellular and molecular level. At the University of Hull you will study biomedical science over four years of full-time study, with a foundation year that builds the scientific foundations required before you engage with the core degree content.
