About this course
Chemical engineering is the engineering discipline that scales chemistry from laboratory discovery to industrial production. It is concerned with the design and operation of processes that convert raw materials and energy into the higher-value products that societies depend on: pharmaceuticals, food and drink, fuels, polymers, lubricants, batteries, semiconductors, paints, and much more. Chemical engineers must understand the processes that occur at the molecular and small scale and translate that understanding into the design of plant and equipment that can operate safely and economically at production scale. At Queen's University Belfast, this three-year full-time BEng gives you a rigorous grounding in the core tools of the chemical engineer: applied sciences, engineering principles, technology, and the financial and management skills needed to operate and lead in industrial settings.
