About this course

Diagnostic radiography is the clinical profession responsible for producing medical images that allow clinicians to identify disease, injury, and anatomical abnormalities. Radiographers work with a range of imaging technologies, including plain radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, and increasingly other modalities, to examine body systems and organs in ways that directly support diagnosis and patient management. It is a profession that combines advanced technical expertise with patient-facing clinical care, requiring both precision in image production and sensitivity in dealing with patients who may be anxious or unwell. At Cumbria this three-year full-time degree leads to eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professions Council as a diagnostic radiographer, which is the required step to practise professionally in the UK.
