About this course

Economics is a social science concerned with how individuals, firms, governments, and societies make decisions about scarce resources, and with the consequences of those decisions for markets, welfare, inequality, and growth. It combines rigorous analytical methods with engagement with some of the most consequential questions in public life, from how wages are set and firms compete, to how governments should respond to recessions, climate change, and inequality. Studying economics develops quantitative reasoning, model-building, and empirical skills that are widely valued across a range of careers.
