About this course
Electrical power engineering is the branch of electrical engineering concerned with the generation, transmission, distribution and use of electrical power, and with the design and management of the systems that deliver energy to homes, businesses, transport networks and industry. As the world transitions to lower-carbon energy sources, the skills of power engineers have become more important than ever, with the integration of renewable generation, the development of smart grids, the electrification of transport and the expansion of energy storage all creating significant demand for engineering expertise in this field. At Glasgow Caledonian University this four-year programme develops a thorough grounding in the principles of electrical engineering alongside specialised knowledge of power systems, power electronics, machines and drives, renewable energy integration and grid management.
