About this course

Environmental management is concerned with the practical challenge of protecting and sustaining natural systems while meeting the needs of human societies. It draws on ecology, geography, economics, law and social science to address questions about how land, water, biodiversity and other resources can be managed sustainably, how environmental risks are assessed and mitigated, and how policy, planning and organisational practice can be shaped to reduce environmental harm. It is a discipline shaped by urgency, given the scale and pace of environmental change, and one in which employment opportunities are growing. At the University of Manchester, this three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year and work placement, giving you extended practical experience in an environmental or sustainability role before you complete your studies. You will study environmental systems and process
