Food and nutritional sciences combined with health and wellbeing is a degree that takes a broad, integrated view of how what we eat shapes health at individual and population levels. Nutritional sciences examines the composition of food, how nutrients are digested and metabolised, and what the evidence says about dietary patterns and health outcomes. Health and wellbeing adds the social, environmental, and behavioural dimensions: the factors beyond diet that determine how healthy people are, and the public health frameworks for promoting wellbeing and preventing illness. The combination prepares graduates to understand the root causes of ill health and to contribute to efforts to address them.
