Mathematics and statistical science is concerned with both the abstract structures that underlie all quantitative reasoning and the practical tools that allow us to draw reliable conclusions from data. Mathematics provides the formal framework, from analysis and algebra to topology and number theory, while statistical science supplies the methods for modelling uncertainty, testing hypotheses, and making sense of complex real-world data.
