Media and communication sit at the heart of contemporary culture, shaping how we understand the world, how power is exercised and contested, and how identities, communities, and public life are formed. The study of media communication cultures is concerned not only with understanding how different media forms work, from television and social media to podcasts, film, and games, but with asking who controls the stories that circulate in those forms, whose perspectives they represent, and what effects they have on audiences and societies. It is a discipline that combines analytical rigour with practical creativity, and that connects theory to the realities of media industries and public communication.
