Music technology sits at the point where artistic creativity and technical rigour meet, and the discipline has transformed how music is produced, distributed, and experienced. At its heart, it is about understanding sound as both a physical phenomenon and a creative medium, and about developing the practical expertise to shape that sound in professional contexts. This three-year full-time BSc at the University of Portsmouth gives you the groundwork for a rewarding career in the music industry as a creative or technical producer. You will explore the science of acoustics, signal processing, digital audio workstations, synthesis, mixing, mastering, and audio for media, building technical skills that are directly applicable in studio, live sound, broadcast, and game audio environments.
