About this course

Pharmacology is the science of how drugs interact with living systems, asking where they act in the body, what effects they produce, how they are metabolised and excreted, and what toxic effects they may cause. Understanding these questions requires working across scales, from the single molecule and its binding to a receptor protein through to the physiological response of whole tissues, organs and organisms. Pharmacology is foundational to the development of new medicines, the safe prescribing of existing ones, and the understanding of both therapeutic benefit and adverse effects. Adding entrepreneurship to this foundation creates a distinctive combination that bridges rigorous scientific training with the commercial and organisational thinking needed to bring discoveries to patients.
