About this course

Sport and exercise science is the application of scientific principles to the understanding and improvement of human physical performance and health. It draws on physiology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition, and anatomy to examine how the body responds to exercise, how athletic performance can be optimised, and how physical activity contributes to wellbeing and long-term health outcomes. The field spans elite sport, where marginal performance gains can determine competitive success, and the much larger territory of public health, where increasing physical activity levels across the population is one of the most effective strategies for reducing chronic disease. At the University of Bedfordshire, Sport and Exercise Science is offered on a part-time basis, giving you flexibility to study alongside other commitments. Bedfordshire has been recognised for teaching quality in sport science
