About this course

Social work is one of the most important and demanding of the helping professions, concerned with supporting individuals, families, and communities who are experiencing vulnerability, crisis, or disadvantage. Social workers advocate for people whose rights and needs might otherwise go unmet, working across child protection, mental health, disability, older people's services, substance misuse, and homelessness. The profession draws on psychology, sociology, law, ethics, and communication theory, and it demands both intellectual rigour and deep human qualities of empathy, resilience, and commitment to social justice.
