Sport and exercise science applies the principles of physiology, biomechanics, psychology and nutrition to understanding athletic performance and physical activity in support of health and wellbeing. It is a discipline that has grown significantly as professional sport has invested more heavily in evidence-based performance support and as public health organisations have recognised the importance of physical activity for disease prevention and mental wellbeing.
