About this apprenticeship

What it involves

This Level 7 integrated degree apprenticeship trains senior specialists to manage complex through-life engineering services (TLS) covering the design, procurement, delivery, and management of in-service support for long-life assets in defence, aerospace, or infrastructure. Apprentices develop strategic and technical expertise to optimise asset availability and whole-life costs. It can lead to roles such as Head of Through Life Support, Director of Asset Management, or Senior Consultant.

What you’ll do day to day

Develop through-life support strategies for complex assets
Carry out RAMS analysis and interpret results to inform decisions
Model whole-life costs and present business cases to senior leaders
Manage integrated logistic support planning and delivery
Advise on contracting strategies for long-term support programmes
Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, commercial, and operations
Ensure compliance with asset management standards and regulations

How this apprenticeship works

You earn a wage from day one. You are a paid employee, not a student. There are no tuition fees - the training is funded by your employer and the government.
About 20% is “off-the-job” training. Roughly a day a week is spent learning away from your normal duties - at a college, training provider, or online - working towards a recognised qualification.
It ends with an end-point assessment (EPA). Near the end, an independent assessor checks you can do the job to the national standard - through tests, a project, a portfolio or an interview. Pass it and you are fully qualified.
