Arbitration Specialist

AI

Arbitration specialists help resolve disputes between businesses or people without going to court. Instead of a judge deciding the case, an independent arbitrator listens to both sides and makes a decision. Arbitration specialists prepare cases, gather evidence and represent clients throughout the process.

The role

What an arbitration specialist actually does, day to day.

As an arbitration specialist, you help settle arguments between companies or people. Instead of going to court - which costs a lot of money and takes years - many businesses choose arbitration: an independent person (the arbitrator) hears both sides and decides the outcome. You prepare the case, gather evidence, write documents, and represent your client in front of the arbitrator.

Your work is detailed and careful. You'll research laws and past cases to build your argument, collect letters and contracts and testimony from witnesses, and put together a clear case. You'll also negotiate with the other side, sometimes trying to reach a deal before the hearing. When the arbitration hearing happens, you'll present your evidence and argue for your client, just like a lawyer in court. The work is demanding because each case is different and the stakes matter to your client.
