Emergency Medicine Physician

AI

Emergency medicine doctors work in accident and emergency departments, treating patients with serious injuries and illnesses that need help right now. They make fast decisions, work with lots of different emergencies, and are part of a team trying to save lives.

The role

What an emergency medicine physician actually does, day to day.

As an emergency medicine physician, you work in A&E departments where patients come in with urgent problems. You assess them quickly, decide what's wrong, and start treatment fast. You might do CPR, stitch wounds, set broken bones, or give medicine. Every patient is different and every shift brings new challenges.

You'll work closely with nurses, paramedics and other doctors. It's fast-paced, stressful work, and you'll see people at their worst moments. But you also get to help people when they really need it. You need to stay calm under pressure, make good decisions quickly, and care about getting people better. Many A&E doctors find it hard sometimes but also feel proud of the work they do.
