Mortgage Advisers and Consultants

AI

Mortgage advisers help people borrow money to buy homes. They work out what someone can afford, find the best deals from different lenders, and guide them through the paperwork so they can get the keys to their new house.

The role

What a mortgage advisers and consultants actually does, day to day.

As a mortgage adviser, your job is to help people find the right way to buy a home. It can feel like a big decision - saving for a deposit, choosing between different loan offers, working out what monthly payments will feel like. You become the person who explains all the confusing options in a way that makes sense, and you help families find a deal that works for them.

Most of your day is spent talking to people about their situation - how much money they have saved, what their job is, what kind of house they want - then searching through different lenders' offers to find something that fits. You'll gather documents they need (bank statements, payslips, proof of where they live), check everything is right, and explain the next steps. You'll also keep an eye on interest rates and the housing market so you can give honest advice about timing and cost.
