The role
What a social work practitioner actually does, day to day.
As a social work practitioner, you support people and families facing serious challenges. You meet with them, listen to what they need, make a plan together and find the right help - whether that is counselling, money advice, childcare or housing. You are their voice when the system feels too confusing or unfair.
Your days are varied. You might visit someone at home, sit in meetings with teachers or doctors, write reports, or spend time building trust with someone who has had bad experiences. The work is sometimes sad and can be hard on you emotionally, but you see real change when someone gets the help they needed.
