Tax Law Specialist

AI

Tax law specialists advise people and businesses on how to follow tax rules and plan their finances in ways that save them money legally. They need to know complex tax laws and explain them clearly.

The role

What a tax law specialist actually does, day to day.

As a tax law specialist, you advise individuals and businesses about taxes. You read the latest tax rules and case law to stay up to date, and you give advice on what tax someone has to pay. You help them plan their finances in smart, legal ways that can save them money. You also prepare tax returns, make sure they're correct, and defend clients if the tax office questions them.

Your work is a mix of research and advice. You need to understand UK tax law deeply and know how it applies to different situations. Sometimes clients have made mistakes on their taxes, and you help sort them out. Other times they're planning something big—like selling a business—and they need you to work out the tax before they decide. It's detailed work that requires careful thinking, but the skills are very sought-after and the pay is good.
