The role
As an Airport Manager, you are responsible for running the airport smoothly every single day. You make sure flights leave and arrive on schedule, passengers can get through the airport easily, and everything is safe for the thousands of people who travel through each day.
Your job involves talking to lots of different teams - security, baggage handlers, customer service staff and many others - and making sure they all work together well. You spot problems before they become big issues, make sure the airport follows all the rules it needs to follow, and lead the people who work there. It's hands-on, fast-paced work that keeps an important part of the UK moving.
Daily responsibilities
- Coordinate airport operations, including flight schedules, ground services, and passenger flow.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.
- Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer service and operational efficiency.
- Monitor financial performance, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Liaise with airlines, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
- Oversee emergency response plans and manage crisis situations effectively.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain airport facilities and services.
