The role

As a Fashion Model, you work with photographers, designers and fashion brands to show their clothes and products. This might mean posing for photographs, walking in fashion shows, or appearing in adverts and videos.

A typical week might include a photoshoot at a studio or outdoor location, a fitting for a fashion show, or meetings with your agent about upcoming work. You need to look after yourself - exercise, eat well, get enough sleep, and take care of your skin and hair. The job can involve a lot of rejection - not every audition will lead to work - so you need to be tough and not take it personally. There's often travel involved, sometimes to other cities or countries. The pay and hours are unpredictable; some months you might work a lot, other months very little. It's a creative field and it can be exciting, but it's also competitive and demanding.
