Media and communications is the study of how information, ideas, and culture are produced, distributed, and consumed in contemporary societies. It draws on theories and methods from sociology, cultural studies, political science, and linguistics to ask how media institutions work, how audiences engage with the content they encounter, how digital platforms have transformed the media landscape, and what the consequences of all this are for public life, democracy, and everyday experience.
