About this course

Philosophy, politics, and economics is one of the most demanding and versatile degree combinations in British higher education. Philosophy develops the tools of rigorous argument and conceptual analysis, asking foundational questions about knowledge, ethics, and rationality. Politics examines how power is organised, contested, and exercised in societies, from the local to the global. Economics analyses how individuals and institutions make decisions about resources, and how those decisions aggregate into the patterns of growth, inequality, and crisis that define economic life. Studied together, the three disciplines illuminate each other in ways that none could achieve alone. At the London School of Economics, this four-year full-time programme keeps all three subjects in play for the first three years, resisting the premature specialisation that reduces the subject in other institution
