About this course
Physics is the most fundamental of the natural sciences, seeking to understand the universe from the behaviour of subatomic particles to the structure and evolution of entire galaxies. From subatomic particles to entire galaxies, physics allows us to explore the big questions, while having a significant impact on our daily lives. The discipline develops exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, trains you to model complex physical systems, and teaches you to move fluently between abstract theory and experimental measurement. At the University of Sussex, this five-year full-time programme includes both an integrated foundation year, making it accessible to students who wish to build their mathematical and scientific foundations before the main degree, and an industrial placement year, giving you direct experience of working in a physics-related or technology-based professional envi
