About this course

Combining Scottish history with Spanish offers an unusual and genuinely rewarding intellectual pairing. Scottish history draws on a rich archive of political transformation, religious conflict, imperial entanglement and cultural identity, tracing the story of a small nation whose influence on global affairs has been disproportionate to its size. Spanish, meanwhile, opens a world language spoken by hundreds of millions of people across Europe and Latin America, and with it access to an enormous range of literary, political and cultural traditions. Together, the two subjects encourage you to think comparatively, to read primary sources critically and to understand how historical context shapes meaning in language and text. This five-year full-time programme at the University of Glasgow carries a typical entry tariff of 200 UCAS points and incorporates a placement year and a work placement
