About this course
Biomedical engineering combines engineering principles with biological and medical science to design and develop the technologies, devices and systems that transform healthcare. From prosthetics and implantable devices to diagnostic imaging systems and wearable health monitors, biomedical engineers work on some of the most consequential design challenges imaginable, creating products that directly improve and extend human life. The discipline requires fluency in both the engineering sciences and the biological and physiological sciences that medical applications demand. At the University of Hull this five-year MEng programme includes an industrial placement year, providing a sustained period of professional experience within a medical device company, NHS clinical engineering department or healthcare technology organisation before you complete your final year.
