Childhood and youth studies is a multi-disciplinary field that takes seriously the lives, experiences, and perspectives of children and young people. Drawing on sociology, psychology, social policy, history, and cultural studies, it examines the contexts in which children and young people grow up, the challenges they face, and the institutions and policies that shape their lives. Pairing it with religion, theology, and spirituality adds a dimension that is both historically important and increasingly recognised as relevant to young people's wellbeing, identity, and sense of meaning.
