Engineering is one of the broadest and most consequential of disciplines. At its core, it is the application of scientific principles to design, build, and maintain the systems, structures, and devices that make modern life possible. But engineering is not monolithic: different specialisms, from aerospace and civil to chemical, electrical, mechanical, and medical engineering, address quite different kinds of problems with overlapping but distinct bodies of knowledge and technique. Choosing which to pursue is itself an important decision. At Swansea University, this four-year BEng programme is designed for students who are not yet certain which engineering discipline is right for them, or who need to build their foundational knowledge before committing to a specialism.
