About this course

History and journalism, media and communication are disciplines that each ask important questions about how knowledge is produced, transmitted and understood. History is concerned with evidence from the past, with how accounts of events are constructed and contested, and with the forces that have shaped the world we inhabit. Journalism, media and communication address how information is gathered, verified and communicated in the present, how media organisations work, how audiences make sense of what they consume, and what responsibilities journalists and communicators carry. Studied together, the two disciplines develop an unusually sharp understanding of how narratives are constructed and how they shape perception.
