About this course

Mathematics and computer science are two disciplines with a deep and productive relationship. Mathematics provides the theoretical foundations on which computing is built: logic, algorithms, number theory, graph theory, probability, and linear algebra are all mathematical subjects that are essential to computer science. Computer science, in turn, uses mathematical reasoning to analyse the properties and performance of algorithms, to build secure and reliable software, and to develop the theoretical understanding of what can and cannot be computed. Studying them together gives you a more rigorous and versatile intellectual toolkit than either alone. At Swansea University, this three-year full-time BSc programme is a highly regarded combination that develops strong mathematical and computational skills alongside the ability to apply them to the problems that modern computing presents.
