Practical wildlife management is concerned with the hands-on skills and scientific understanding needed to manage wild animal populations, their habitats, and the complex human contexts in which they exist. It is a discipline that bridges ecology and conservation science on one side, and land management, countryside practices, and rural policy on the other. Effective wildlife management requires the ability to assess population dynamics and habitat condition, understand the legal and ethical frameworks that govern work with wild species, and apply practical skills in the field in ways that are grounded in evidence.
