Accounting and finance is the discipline concerned with how organisations record, report, and manage their financial resources, and how financial decisions are made and evaluated. Accounting provides the language in which economic activity is measured and communicated, enabling managers, investors, regulators, and others to understand the financial position of an organisation and to hold it to account. Finance examines how money flows through markets and institutions, how risk is assessed and managed, and how investment decisions are made. Together they provide a comprehensive picture of how financial value is created, reported, and distributed.
