Biomedical science provides the scientific foundation for understanding health, disease and the diagnosis and treatment of illness. It sits between pure biological science and clinical medicine, focusing on the laboratory and analytical disciplines that underpin modern healthcare: haematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, cellular pathology, immunology and transfusion science. Biomedical scientists are the laboratory professionals whose work generates the test results, diagnoses and research findings that guide clinical decision-making in the NHS and internationally. At City St George's, University of London you will study for three years full-time, beginning with the fundamental aspects of cell and molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and genetics before progressing to the investigation of the disease process, including its research, diagnosis and treatment.
