Education, childhood, and culture is a degree that examines one of the most important and contested areas of social life: how children learn, develop, and are shaped by the societies and cultures into which they are born. It brings together educational theory, developmental psychology, sociology, anthropology, and cultural studies to ask fundamental questions about childhood itself, including how it is defined, how it varies across cultures and historical periods, and how institutions, families, and communities support or hinder children's flourishing. It is a degree for people who are curious about how learning happens, why educational systems take the forms they do, and what childhood means in different cultural contexts.
