Film, television and digital media are not simply entertainment; they are the primary means through which contemporary societies construct and share meaning, identity, culture and memory. Understanding these media, how they are made, how they work on their audiences, and how they have evolved across different national and technological contexts, is to understand something fundamental about how the modern world functions. At the University of Southampton, this four-year full-time degree combines critical and historical engagement with film and television with an understanding of how digital media is transforming the broader media landscape.
