Geology is the science of the Earth, concerned with the composition, structure, and history of the rocks that make up the planet and the processes that continue to shape it. Geologists read the landscape as a record of deep time, interpreting the evidence of ancient oceans, volcanic eruptions, continental collisions, and the evolution of life that is preserved in rocks and minerals.
