About this course
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines, concerned with the design, analysis, manufacture and maintenance of systems that involve forces, motion, energy and materials. It underpins much of the physical world around us, from the engines that power transport to the medical devices that support healthcare, from advanced manufacturing processes to the renewable energy systems reshaping how we generate and use power. A mechanical engineer needs both rigorous analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability, combining mathematics and physics with design thinking and materials knowledge.
