Songwriting and music production are disciplines that together form the creative and technical heart of the contemporary music industry. Songwriting is the craft of composing music and writing lyrics that express ideas, emotions, and stories in ways that connect with listeners, and it is a skill that can be developed, refined, and practised with the same rigour as any other creative craft. Music production involves the use of recording technology, digital audio workstations, sound design, and mixing and mastering to turn a musical idea into a fully realised record-quality recording, and it has become central to almost every genre of music made today.
