About this course

Sports journalism is a specialism at the intersection of journalism and sport, one of the most widely consumed and commercially significant sectors of global media. Sports journalists report, analyse and tell the stories that connect fans to the athletes, clubs and events they care about, across newspapers, magazines, websites, television, radio, podcasting and social media. The specialism requires the same core journalistic skills as any other form of the profession, including news judgement, interviewing, writing under deadline, accuracy and ethical practice, alongside a deep knowledge of sport and its commercial and cultural dimensions. At the University of Gloucestershire, this four-year full-time programme includes a placement built into the degree, giving you direct experience in real sports media environments.
