About this course
Film and media studies examines how moving images and screen culture shape our understanding of the world and of ourselves. It asks how films, television programmes, and digital media are made, what choices of form and style mean, and how audiences make sense of what they see. Combining this with the study of a modern language adds a rich dimension: you gain access to cinematic and media traditions from other cultures and linguistic contexts, and you develop the practical ability to engage with them on their own terms rather than in translation.
