About this course

Fine art in the specialisms of painting and printmaking is a practice-based discipline that places studio work, material investigation, and the development of a personal artistic voice at the centre of your studies. These are disciplines with ancient lineages but entirely contemporary ambitions: painting continues to evolve in response to the world around it, and printmaking encompasses everything from traditional intaglio and relief processes to digital and experimental hybrid methods. Studying them at degree level means learning to work seriously and persistently in a studio environment, to research what you are making and why, and to develop the critical vocabulary needed to place your own practice in relation to the wider history and culture of visual art. At Glasgow School of Art this four-year full-time programme is the largest specialist programme within the School of Fine Art. T
