About this course

International relations is the study of how states, organisations, and other actors interact across borders, and of the forces, whether power, economics, ideology, culture, or law, that shape those interactions. It asks why conflicts begin and how they end, what drives cooperation between nations, how international institutions are built and whether they work, and what role non-state actors from multinational corporations to NGOs play in global affairs. It is a discipline that combines political science, history, economics, and international law to address some of the most consequential questions of our time.
